Curriculum & Activities
Arts and Crafts
Small group classes under the direction of a qualified teacher offer children an opportunity to express their creativity and to refine motor development. Children’s eyes glisten as they discover the wonder of color and as they create projects that are uniquely their own.
Pre-K and Kinder Readiness
These programs have been amongst the most successful in our facility. Our children are introduced to language arts, geography, mathematics, science, fine arts, and history. A primary focus is literacy, as this is essential to your child being successful and confident during his/her educational journey. Your child will experience a family like environment in which moral and social skills are reinforced.
Computer Lab
In this age of technology, a computer lab is an essential component of a child's development program. In our computer lab, children have hands-on computer time and enjoyable learning experiences.
Physical Education
It is imperative that we introduce our children to a healthy, sound, and nutritional lifestyle. A physical education instructor leads our children in fun exercise routines integrating movement with learning. This is a way of life that must be consciously learned before it becomes automatic. The program is an integral activity that enhances the holistic child.
Tree House
Our Tree House facility houses our kinder readiness academic program as well as our gym classes — with a PE instructor— for ages 2 and up. Our after school program meets here, offering activities from arts and crafts to sports, etc. Organized homework sessions occur during the school year to ensure that our children are prepared for the next school day.
Swimming
Our school offers swimming lessons and open swim in our on-site heated pool, during the summer months. Our children flourish in this small group instruction, taught by a certified Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard. You will receive a progress report to track your child’s performance and progress. We believe the swimming program is an invaluable extracurricular activity providing you and your child with a level of confidence, as they are certainly exposed to water frequently, in our hot South Texas climate.
Move & Groove Innovative Dance Program
The Move & Groove Innovative Dance Program enables children 2 years and older to experience dance in a safe, fun and stimulating class within our facility. The Move & Groove faculty members are professional dances with extensive backgrounds in teaching young children dance. Each teacher takes pride in sharing their knowledge and love of dance in a nurturing manner. The curriculum is taught through a foundation of basic dance technique, while promoting gross motor skills, rhythm, creativity and flexibility. Most importantly, the Move & Groove program strives to instill an improved self-confidence in each child.
Spanish Lessons
Little Xavier Company was founded in 1999 with the goal of introducing Spanish as a second language to preschoolers. Ms. Blanca Castro is the director and founder of “Little Xavier Company”, born in Monterrey, Mexico, and holds a certificate in “Child Day Care” and has experience in Graphic Design. Little Xavier’s curriculum is divided in 2 semesters (September to December and January through May) and is tailored for children 3 to 5 years old. Children will learn the basic colors, numbers, greetings, manners, food, outdoors, animals, and much more. This is the best age to absorb Spanish as a second language.
